Notre Dame, Paris is such a wonderful place one could easily spend days just photographing all the detail to be seen. It’s really interesting to see all the Gargoyles and think about all the history they have borne witness to over the past centuries, looking out across the city from their lofty perches.
Brilliant shots. I took a few photos of Gargoyles while I was there, but none as good as this.
Thanks for stopping by, would be really nice to get some photos of them at sunrise and sunset.
Amazing shots! Thx for sharing.
Thanks for the comment & visit.
I was surprised to learn that the gargoyle was named for its garga, or throat: a gargoyle originally had a drain pipe emerging from its throat, and the fantastic figure was just an adornment for the water pipe.
Thanks for informing me of this, I hadn’t known about that. Thanks for visiting.
Wonderful shots of the gargoyles; they are so detailed you’d almost think they were alive. Thanks for stopping by my blog, too; really appreciate it.
The detail is really amazing, one could spent days at Notre Dame, as the building is just so detailed. Thanks for stopping by.
Those are beautiful!
Thank for the visit, glad you like them.
nice shots! so cool – weeks in Paris to photgraph such things sounds amazing!
Thanks for the visit, Paris is certainly a great city for photography.
Beautiful pictures!
Thanks for visiting & the comment.
Reblogged this on ram0ram note book.
Nice shots! I was recently in Paris and couldn’t resist taking a few photos of the gargoyles over the city, either. And thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post!
Thanks for stopping by. The gargoyles certainly are great.
Great set. I especially like the ones where the gargoyle is looking at the Eiffel Tower.
Thanks for visiting and the comment. Its always good to capture a well known landmark from a angle you don’t see too often.
Thanks for stopping my Not Dabbling in Normal.
Oh I love you gargoyle photos. I have always thought it was such a neat way to dress of a drain pipe.
They really do add a great deal of interest to the building. Just think of all the work involved in hand carving them all. Thanks for visiting.
These shots are fantastic!
Brilliant pics
Love love love these pictures!
Wonderful photos!
Great shots, that last one almost looks alive. Beautiful
Thanks for the visit, the gargoyles certainly do add to the life of the building.
I’ve been there! It simply awe inspiring to see the gargoyles stand witness to all the centuries. I like the juxtaposition of the ancient vs the modern. Your photos make me want to go back there. Thanks for visiting my blog!
Thanks for the visit and the comment. They really add greatly to the building.
Thanks for sharing these images with us.
Love the gargoyles! They’re very funny. Also, thanks for liking my post!
Your welcome, thanks for the visit.
Amazing photos! Took me right back to my week in Paris many, many years ago! 🙂 Also, thanks for stopping by my page and liking my post!
Thanks for the visit & comment, I love Paris there is just so much to see.
Brilliant photos!
Thanks for the visit, glad you liked the photos.
Gargoyles are odd creatures, I love them.. 🙂
Très original 😉
Merci, thanks for stopping by.
The photos really captured the essence of Notre Dame!
Amazing pictures!
Great photos despite the probably congested atmospheres of all the tourists squashed up in the tower! I took a few shots of the gargoyles while I was up there too, its on one of my posts. Funnily enough they looked a little bored haha!
I waited in line for about an hour and a half to be able to get to that level to take those shots. Was certainly worth the wait. Thanks for the visit.
Nice! I like the first and fifth shots the best. Thanks for “liking” the post today on my photography blog. Appreciate it!
Thanks for the visit, glad you like the photographs.
I love the contrast with the old world and the modern city in the background. I have a book on gargoyles with many of these pictures in it but some day I hope to actually see them first hand. Nice job! Thanks for visiting my blog today.
Thanks for the visit, glad you like the contrast between the old and new. We are now in such a rush to design and build new modern buildings, its very rare do we see the amount and attention to detail you see in old buildings like this being applied to modern construction. Many modern builds may be nice, but would you be able to see day’s, week’s or month’s of dedication applied to just one tiny piece of the building!
I could just spend days walking around this city (and any other city, for that matter) and fill up the memory card in mere minutes! Thanks for sharing!
That’s the great thing with Digital, one can take as many picture as you want – well almost.
Yay! Gargoyles! 🙂 My husband was born and raised in Scotland (Ayrshire), and whenever we go to the UK for visits, I end up taking loads of photos of gargoyles on the buildings there. We don’t have them here in Florida, since we are such a young area of the country (relatively speaking), and I think they’re so fascinating. My family here always get aggravated that so many of my vacation pics are of gargoyles instead of other stuff, but they really are amazing to me. And your pictures were ace. Nice post!
Really great to hear that you are enjoying the gargoyle photographs. Thanks for the visit and great comment. Most modern buildings are just put up with concrete and steel, gone is a lot of the time, dedication and attention to detail you would see in any building of old.
