Brasov, Romania

Following on from yesterdays post on Bran Castle today’s set of photographs come all the way from the town of Brasov. Once again it is situated right in the heart of Translyvania just a few miles from Bran / Dracula’s Castle. These photographs were taken in June 2006.

  1. I have this on my schedule for later in the year. I would love to hear your opinion of the place. How were the people? Did you have any troubles communicating? Did you have any issues with transportation or hotels? etc.

    • Its a really nice spot, was quiet easy to get around, many people speak English. Its quite compact, so a short walk in any direction should get you to where you want to be. There is a cable car system that takes you to a hill just overlooking the entire area. Will perhaps make another post or two with some additional photographs of the area in the coming days.

  2. Nice pictures. Romanian castles have a certain ‘feel’ to them, unlike anywhere else in Europe. Maybe that’s because of the peculiar history the region has experienced in the last 900 or so years. ‘Vlad the Impaler’ better known in legend as Count Vlad Dracula is just one example. That ‘feel’ has been excellently portrayed in your pictures.

  3. These are great photos Daniel in a charming city with endless views. Your display illustrates this very well. You are a fortunate man to have the freedom and time to move about.
